ABB sells three families of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) under the Flexley name: Flexley Tug tuggers that tow carts (T701, T702, T901), Flexley Mover lifting platforms that drive under a load (P603, P604) and Flexley Stack autonomous forklifts (F602, F702, F712). Rated loads run from 1,500 kg on the Movers to 10,000 kg on the T901 heavy tug. ABB’s newest models, the T702, P603, P604 and F712, navigate by Visual SLAM, using cameras to localize without floor tape or reflectors. All are configured in ABB’s AMR Studio Suite and sold by quote; ABB publishes no prices. As of ABB’s October 20, 2026 quarterly report, the sale of ABB Robotics to SoftBank is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026.

| F712 | Flexley Stack, forklift | 2,000 kg | Not applicable | 1.7 m/s loaded | Visual SLAM | 8.5 m |
| F702 | Flexley Stack, forklift | 2,000 kg | Not applicable | 2 m/s loaded | Not published | 8.5 m |
| F602 | Flexley Stack, forklift | 1,600 kg | Not applicable | Not published | Not published | Not published |
Rated load and towing force measure different things. A tugger’s rated load is what its cart train can weigh; the towing force in newtons is how hard it can pull, which matters on ramps and when starting a heavy train. The T702 and T701 share a 2,000 kg rating, yet the T702 pulls twice as hard. ABB publishes no battery, runtime or charging figures for any Flexley model, so ask for them at the duty cycle you plan to run.
Which ABB AMR fits which job
- Cart trains between warehouse and line: the Flexley Tug T702 or T701. The T702 also lifts 230 mm, so it can pick up a trolley instead of hitching it, and its turning radius is 600 mm.
- Very heavy loads: the T901 pulls up to 10 tonnes with a 1,270 mm turning radius, for the heaviest trolley loads in ABB’s range.
- Racks, shelves and pallets on stands: the Flexley Mover P603 drives under the load and lifts it. ABB lists ±5 mm positioning, load sensing for the centre of gravity, and ISO 3691-4 and ANSI B56.5 safety. The P604 turns on the spot, which suits narrow cells; ABB quotes 10 mm accuracy for it.
- Pallets to racking or trucks: the Flexley Stack F712 lifts 2,000 kg to 8.5 m and positions to ±10 mm without reflectors. Our Flexley Stack F712 guide covers how its Visual SLAM works.
The T701, T901, F602 and F702 pages give fewer specifications than the Visual SLAM models. Ask ABB which of them are still offered in your region; ABB does not publish a discontinued-model list. Older Flexley Mover models such as the P204 appeared in ABB’s 2023 machine-tending demonstrations.
Visual SLAM: why ABB moved away from tape and reflectors
ABB bought the AMR business of ASTI Mobile Robotics of Burgos, Spain, in 2021, and renamed the range Flexley in 2022. In January 2024 ABB bought Sevensense, an ETH Zurich spin-off, for its camera-based Visual SLAM, and the T702 launch in March 2024 was the first ABB AMR to use it. ABB described the July 2026 F712 forklift as completing its Visual SLAM lineup. A Visual SLAM robot localizes from features in camera images, so routes change in software rather than by relaying tape. The T702, T901 and P604 still list magnetic guidance as well, which helps where a site already has tape.
AMR Studio Suite and VDA 5050
The AMR Studio Suite has two parts. AMR Studio is the no-code tool for mapping, setup and missions; AMR Studio Fleet Manager assigns orders, manages traffic and connects to ERP and WMS through open APIs. ABB claims up to 20% shorter commissioning with the suite. ABB states VDA 5050 compatibility for the F712; its suite pages don’t mention VDA 5050, so if you run a mixed fleet under a third-party master controller, get the VDA 5050 version and scope for each model in writing.
How to buy an ABB AMR, and what the SoftBank sale means
Product pages on ABB’s robotics web shop carry a “Request Info” button that routes to ABB Robotics sales; local ABB offices and partners also quote. ABB publishes no list prices.
SoftBank Group agreed to buy ABB Robotics for $5.375 billion on October 8, 2025. The EU cleared the deal on March 11, 2026, and ABB’s Q3 2026 report on October 20 says completion is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to remaining approvals. The AMR business sits inside ABB Robotics, and the F712 launch was announced by the president of ABB Robotics. For buyers, the practical step is to ask which legal entity will hold the service contract and warranty after closing. Our ABB Robotics and SoftBank explainer covers the rest of the product range.
