The easiest way to ride a May Mobility robotaxi in October 2026 is through Lyft in Midtown Atlanta. Request a standard or Wait & Save ride with both pickup and drop-off in Midtown, and Lyft may match you with one of May Mobility’s autonomous Toyota Siennas at no extra cost (Lyft’s rider page). You can’t request the car on purpose, and a trained standby operator sits at the wheel. May Mobility also runs autonomous ride services in Grand Rapids and Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Its Uber service in Arlington, Texas has not started; the company targets the fourth quarter of 2026 or the first quarter of 2027.

Where May Mobility operates
May Mobility listed its sites in its September 16, 2026 announcement:
- Atlanta, Georgia: commercial service on the Lyft app, launched September 10, 2025.
- Grand Rapids and Eden Prairie, Minnesota: autonomous ride services. The announcement does not name the app or operator partner for these towns.
- Arlington, Texas: planned with Uber, targeted for Q4 2026 or Q1 2027. Not operating yet.
- Nagoya, Japan: a six-month on-demand pilot with NTT Mobility that started in September 2026.
The same announcement says May Mobility has given more than 550,000 commercial autonomous rides over 1.1 million miles in the U.S. and Japan, and has made three driver-out launches in the U.S., meaning service with no one in the driver’s seat. It doesn’t say which sites those were, so don’t assume a given city runs without an operator.
How to get a May Mobility ride on Lyft in Atlanta
- Open the Lyft app with your normal account. There’s no separate sign-up.
- Set both pickup and drop-off inside Midtown Atlanta.
- Choose a standard ride or Wait & Save.
- If an autonomous vehicle is free, Lyft may offer it. You can accept or decline that match.
- Board the Sienna. The standby operator can take over driving and can help with luggage.
What Lyft says about the service:
- Price: an autonomous match costs nothing extra over the ride you requested. Your fare is the normal Lyft fare shown in the app.
- Hours: the cars run daily during limited hours. Lyft doesn’t publish the times, so whether you get matched depends on when you ride.
- No guarantee: being in Midtown doesn’t mean you’ll get one. The match only happens when a vehicle is available.
- Not driverless: in Atlanta, every ride has an operator in the driver’s seat. Lyft’s launch post said operators would be on board for initial rides and would answer rider questions.
Lyft’s page lists the question of how to opt out of autonomous matches but doesn’t spell out an answer. You can decline any individual match.
How May Mobility is different from Waymo and Zoox
May Mobility doesn’t run its own consumer app in the U.S. the way Waymo does. It supplies the self-driving system and vehicles, and ride-hail companies put them into their networks: Lyft in Atlanta, Uber in Arlington next. That means you meet it as an occasional match inside an app you already use, not as a service you choose.
The vehicles are hybrid Toyota Siennas fitted with May Mobility’s system. Toyota is its main vehicle partner, and the company also lists Toyota’s e-Palette as a platform. In May 2026, May Mobility presented its fifth-generation architecture, which it describes as using a world model.
If you want a robotaxi with no one at the wheel today, Waymo and Zoox are further along in the cities they serve. See how Waymo fares and cities work and how to ride a Zoox robotaxi.
What’s planned next
- Uber in Arlington, Texas: targeted commercial launch in Q4 2026 or Q1 2027.
- More Japan sites with NTT: additional deployments expected to be announced later in 2026.
- Grab in Southeast Asia and CaoCao in Europe: announced partnerships, with no cities or dates yet.
- Going public: May Mobility agreed to merge with ACP Holdings Acquisition Corp., a special purpose acquisition company. The deal values May Mobility at about $1.4 billion and is expected to close by the end of 2026, after which the shares would trade on Nasdaq as MAY. The close still needs shareholder and Nasdaq approval.
