KUKA AMRs in 2026: KMP 250P, 600P, 1500P and 3000P Compared, Plus KMR Mobile Robots

KUKA’s current autonomous mobile robot (AMR) range is the KMP P-series: the KMP 250P (250 kg), KMP 600P (600 kg) and KMP 1500P (1,500 kg) with differential drive, and the omnidirectional KMP 3000P (3,000 kg, or 6,000 kg when two share a load). All four navigate by LiDAR SLAM with QR codes on the floor for precise docking, charge at a dock in about two hours, and run under KUKA.AMR Fleet, which also controls other brands through VDA 5050. On top of that sit the KMR mobile manipulators (a KUKA arm on a mobile base) and two KMF autonomous forklifts. KUKA publishes no prices; each page ends in a contact form.

KUKA’s mobile platforms page gives range-wide figures: about two hours to charge for up to eight hours of use, 20–80% in about an hour, conductive or inductive charging, protection up to IP54, and cleanroom and ESD versions. Individual product pages add detail. The KMP 600P measures 980 × 686 × 270 mm and uses a LiFePO4 battery. The KMP 1500P page quotes up to 10 hours of use, against eight on the overview page, so ask which figure applies to your duty cycle. The KMP 3000P measures 2,200 × 1,200 × 370 mm and turns on the spot within 1.3 m.

Positioning accuracy is ±5 mm on QR codes for all three larger models; on SLAM alone KUKA lists ±10 mm for the KMP 3000P. Since early 2026, KUKA says every KMP can also follow lines and QR codes and switch between AGV and AMR modes, which helps sites moving from fixed-path vehicles.

Safety equipment and certifications on KUKA platforms

Each KMP carries laser scanners for people detection, 3D cameras for obstacles, safety contact strips, light and sound signals, and four emergency stops, one at each corner. KUKA lists CE certification through TÜV and approval for the North American market, with FCC options. The KMP 250P uses two diagonally mounted scanners for 360° coverage. For how ISO 3691-4 and ANSI/RIA R15.08 apply to a site, see our AMR safety standards guide.

KMR mobile manipulators and KMF forklifts

  • KMR iisy: an LBR iisy cobot arm (11 or 15 kg) on a base that carries up to 200 kg at 1.5 m/s, with inductive charging. A cleanroom version, KMR iisy CR, is certified to ISO class 3 and can be ordered online. The arm differences are in our LBR iisy vs LBR iiwa comparison.
  • KMR iiwa: an LBR iiwa arm on an omnidirectional Mecanum-wheel base, positioned to ±5 mm. KUKA lists no payload or speed for it.
  • KMR QUANTEC: a KR QUANTEC 150 R3300 industrial arm on a heavy omnidirectional base rated for 7,000 kg as standard.
  • KMF 1500P-CB and KMF 1500P-PS: autonomous forklifts for 1,500 kg, a counterbalance model lifting to 3 m and a pallet stacker lifting to 2.5 m. Our autonomous forklift comparison sets them against Seegrid, Vecna and others.

KUKA.AMR Fleet and VDA 5050

KUKA.AMR Fleet assigns jobs and manages traffic, with KUKA.AMR Suite for start-up and job planning. KUKA states that the software controls third-party vehicles through the VDA 5050 interface, connects to WMS, ERP and MES systems through an API, offers SECS/GEM for semiconductor plants, and handles peripherals such as robot arms, conveyors and elevators. At LogiMAT 2026 KUKA ran the KMP 250P and 600P in an interoperability demonstration with SYNAOS, WIFERION and FPT. If you already run a different fleet manager, ask whether KUKA supports the KMP as a VDA 5050 vehicle under it, which is a separate question from KUKA’s fleet software controlling others.

How much a KUKA AMR costs and how to buy one

KUKA’s product pages link to the KUKA Marketplace and to regional sales contacts, and integrators also sell and install the platforms. The only public price we found is old: a 2018 UK public contract for one KUKA mobile platform prepared for an iiwa 14 arm, bought from KUKA Robotics UK for £65,286.54. That was a different generation and a research configuration, so treat it as a historical reference. For a current budget, request quotes and compare them with published prices in our AMR companies comparison.

Ask KUKA or the integrator to state:

  • Model and version (standard, cleanroom or ESD) and whether the lift unit is included
  • Navigation setup: SLAM only, or QR codes laid on the floor, and who installs them
  • Docking stations: number, conductive or inductive, and battery runtime at your load and route
  • KUKA.AMR Fleet license scope, number of vehicles, and WMS/MES integration work
  • Top modules or conveyors, and who owns integration, commissioning and the site risk assessment
  • Service contract, spare parts and response times in your country

KUKA is owned by China’s Midea Group, which completed a squeeze-out of minority shareholders in 2022; the robot arms behind the KMR models are covered in our KUKA robot lineup guide.
