Sony aibo Price in 2026: $3,199.99, the $300 Cloud Plan, and Whether You Can Still Buy One

As of October 19, 2026, Sony’s U.S. store lists the aibo ERS-1000 robot dog in white at $3,199.99, and that price includes the first three years of the aibo AI Cloud Plan. After that, the plan renews at $300 a year. You can buy it only from Sony in the United States, it is a final sale with no returns, and Sony won’t sell or ship it to Illinois or to Baltimore, Maryland. In Japan, Sony is ending sales once its remaining stock runs out, but it has said U.S. sales and support continue.

What $3,199.99 gets you

Sony’s aibo ERS-1000 product page lists the white model at $3,199.99 with free shipping, financing through Affirm, and up to 5% back in My Sony points. The price includes:

  • The robot and its charging station (a charging stand and a charging mat).
  • Three years of the AI Cloud Plan, counted from the delivery date. Sony’s AI Cloud Plan page says you don’t need to buy an activation code with a new aibo for that reason.
  • Mobile data. The plan includes an LTE connection, so aibo can reach Sony’s servers away from your Wi-Fi without a separate data bill.

To set aibo up you also need the My aibo app (iOS, Android or web) and a major credit card on file, which the product page lists as requirements for the subscription.

If you see $2,899 or $2,899.99 in older articles, that was the U.S. launch price in 2018 and the price Sony gave when it released color editions such as Black Sesame in its February 2022 announcement. The current list price for the white model is $3,199.99. Sony’s product page also mentions Espresso, Kinako, Black Sesame and Strawberry Milk colors; check the store for which ones are in stock, since past color editions were sold in limited quantities.

What the cloud plan does, and what it costs later

aibo is a robot that learns from the people in your home, and most of that learning runs through Sony’s servers. According to Sony’s AI Cloud Plan page, the plan lets aibo:

  • store memories of faces, places and interactions, and develop its personality over time
  • upload its photos so you can view and download them in the app
  • take a name, learn tricks, and receive new behaviors through the app

Sony describes the plan as necessary for aibo’s full functionality and learning. After the included three years, the renewal price is $300 a year. If you buy a renewal code and don’t redeem it within twelve months of when it is emailed to you, the code expires.

Over five years, the cost of owning one new aibo comes to $3,199.99 plus two renewals, or about $3,800 before tax.

Who can buy one in the United States

  • Sold by Sony. Sony sells aibo through its own U.S. store, and the product page is where its current price and stock are listed.
  • Final sale. The product page states aibo is sold with no returns. Read the aibo Terms of Use before ordering.
  • Not in Illinois or Baltimore. Sony does not sell, ship or support aibo in the State of Illinois or in Baltimore, Maryland, and lists the specific Baltimore ZIP codes on the product page. Residents there can use the app only as unregistered users.
  • No other country. With Japanese sales ending, the U.S. is the only market Sony still sells the ERS-1000 in.

Used aibos show up on resale sites. Each aibo is tied to its owner’s cloud account, so ask the seller to remove the dog from their account before you pay; otherwise you may not be able to register it to yours.

Is aibo being discontinued?

Only in Japan, so far. On June 25, 2026, Sony said it would stop selling the ERS-1000 in Japan once inventory runs out, while continuing to provide repairs and replacement parts and continuing to sell aibo in the United States, Kyodo News reported. Sony told AFP that the aibo business will continue, but it has not announced a new model or a date for any change in the U.S.

If you are deciding whether to buy now, the practical risk is the cloud service. aibo’s learning and app features depend on Sony keeping the plan running; Sony has said it will keep supporting existing owners, but it has not published an end date for that support either way.

What aibo is, in numbers

From Sony’s aibo specifications page:

  • Size and weight: about 180 × 293 × 305 mm standing, about 2.2 kg
  • Battery: about 2 hours of activity, about 3 hours to recharge. aibo walks back to its charging station on its own when it runs low.
  • Sensing: two cameras (a front camera and a SLAM camera for mapping your home), a ToF depth sensor, two ranging sensors, four microphones, and touch sensors on the head, chin and back
  • Movement: motors in the head, mouth, neck, waist, all four legs, ears and tail
  • Eyes: two OLED displays
  • Connectivity: LTE and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

aibo is a companion pet, not a programmable work robot. It recognizes family members, responds to touch and voice, performs tricks, and can patrol and take photos. Sony also publishes a visual programming tool and a developer API for owners who want to script behaviors.

How to buy one

  1. Check where you live. If your shipping address is in Illinois or one of the listed Baltimore ZIP codes, Sony won’t ship.
  2. Order from Sony’s store. Pick the color that is in stock, then add it to the cart. Financing is offered at checkout.
  3. Install the My aibo app and create an account with a credit card on file.
  4. Register aibo and start the included plan. The three years begin at delivery.
  5. Note your renewal date. Budget $300 a year from the fourth year if you want aibo to keep learning and keep app features.
