FANUC Robots in 2026: The Lineup by Payload, CRX Cobots, Controllers, and How to Buy One

FANUC is the Japanese robot and CNC maker headquartered in Oshino, Yamanashi, at the foot of Mount Fuji, and its robots run from a 0.5 kg delta picker to the M-2000, which lifts 2,300 kg. It shipped its one-millionth robot in August 2023. FANUC doesn’t publish prices (our FANUC robot price guide collects what sellers charge): in the US you buy through an Authorized System Integrator or FANUC America’s sales team, and the quote covers the arm, controller, software options and the cell around it.

FANUC robot families by payload

Payload narrows the choice fastest, then reach. Ranges below come from FANUC America’s robot product overview and its robot series page, checked October 23, 2026.

FANUC’s Japanese site describes the whole range as covering 500 g to 2.3 t in more than 200 models.

CRX and CR collaborative robots

FANUC’s cobot page lists 14 variations from 3 to 50 kg. The green CRX arms are the ones most small shops look at:

  • CRX-3iA: 3 kg, 692 mm reach
  • CRX-5iA: 5 kg, 994 mm
  • CRX-10iA and CRX-10iA/L: 10 kg, 1,249 mm or 1,418 mm (a paint version exists)
  • CRX-20iA/L: 20 kg, 1,418 mm
  • CRX-30iA: 30 kg, 1,756 mm, with a 40 kg wrist-down option
  • Food-grade versions of the 5, 10, 10/L, 20/L and 30 models

Figures are from the CRX site; our FANUC CRX guide adds repeatability, controllers and published prices. For heavier collaborative work, the older green-and-white CR-35iB carries 50 kg, the heaviest in our comparison of cobot makers. FANUC’s catalog also lists CRX/20-14A and CRX/30-18A names; ask your integrator which version it quotes, since the spec sheets for some CRX models list slightly different reach figures.

Controllers, programming and ROS 2

The R-50iA controller, in mass production since February 2024 and launched in the US in August 2024, is FANUC’s current generation. It runs Python scripts on the controller, includes a software PLC and holds IEC 62443-4-1 and 4-2 cybersecurity certifications. Many models, including the CRX-30iA, are still listed with the earlier R-30iB Plus, so check which controller your quote names; it decides which software options are available.

Robots are programmed from the teach pendant in FANUC’s TP language. KAREL is FANUC’s compiled language for logic and communication around the motion program. ROBOGUIDE is the offline programming and simulation tool, with a 30-day free trial and add-ons for welding, palletizing, painting and picking.

In December 2025 FANUC opened a ROS 2 driver on GitHub that works with ros2_control at a 1 ms control cycle and covers both the CRX series and its large robots. In March 2026 FANUC America announced it uses NVIDIA Jetson, Isaac Sim and Omniverse with ROBOGUIDE for digital twins and publishes its robots as OpenUSD assets; our guide to NVIDIA’s physical AI stack explains those pieces. FANUC’s earlier alliance work with Fujitsu, Yaskawa and Kawasaki is covered in Japan’s physical AI alliance.

How to buy a FANUC robot

  1. Size the robot by payload, reach and accuracy; our robot arm selection guide walks through the numbers.
  2. Find an integrator. FANUC America’s Authorized System Integrator search filters by distance, industry and application. You can also contact a FANUC specialist directly at 888-FANUC-US.
  3. Compare quotes on the same scope. Arm, controller, gripper, guarding, programming and training are separate lines; our checklist of what a robot quote should include applies to industrial arms too.
  4. Plan training. FANUC’s CERT program runs at more than 1,700 schools in the Americas, and FANUC America trains customers at its own sites.

If you already own FANUC robots, the Certified Robot Reapplication Group reconditions and recertifies them for a new job with a one-year warranty.

The company behind the robots

FANUC started in 1955 as a numerical-control project inside Fujitsu and was incorporated as a separate company in 1972. It had 10,113 employees as of March 2025. In the year ended March 31, 2026, its robot division sold ¥378.6 billion, 44.1% of group sales of ¥857.8 billion, according to its results reference. FANUC is an independent listed company and doesn’t report robot unit sales.

For how FANUC stacks up against other makers, see our pages on KUKA, ABB Robotics, Yaskawa Motoman and Universal Robots.

How the LR Mate 200iD variants (/4S, /7L, /14L, /7C, /7H, /7WP) compare with KUKA KR AGILUS, ABB IRB 1100/1300 and Yaskawa GP robots is in our small 6-axis robot comparison.
