ICRA 2027, the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, runs from May 24 to 28, 2027 at Coex in Seoul, South Korea, according to the official ICRA 2027 site. The main conference is May 25–27, with workshops and tutorials on May 24 and 28. Paper submission closed on September 16, 2026. Registration opens in early February 2027.
ICRA is the flagship conference of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society. It’s where a large share of robot learning, manipulation, locomotion and autonomous-systems research is presented each year, alongside an exhibition and robot competitions. It’s in-person only: there’s no option to present a paper online.
Deadlines that are still open (as of October 19, 2026)
Paper submission and competition proposals have closed, but several calls are still running:
- Workshop and tutorial full proposals: due November 2, 2026, by invitation after the pre-proposal round (workshop call).
- Satellite conference centers: applications due November 10, 2026. IEEE RAS sections and chapters can run their own local conference during May 24–28 with keynotes streamed from Seoul (satellite call).
- Community Building Day: proposals open October 20 and close November 30, 2026, for sessions held on May 26, 2027 (community day call).
- Competition results: accepted competitions are announced October 31, 2026; competitions run May 25–27 (competition call).
Dates for paper authors
If you submitted a paper by the September 16 deadline, the remaining steps from the call for papers are:
- January 31, 2027: acceptance or rejection notice.
- February 6, 2027: PaperPlaza opens for final versions.
- March 5, 2027: author registration deadline. Each accepted paper needs a registered author.
- March 31, 2027: early registration deadline.
- May 14, 2027: standard registration deadline.
An accepted paper with no presenter on site is treated as a no-show and skipped. Papers disqualified under IEEE-RAS AI-use rules don’t get registration fees refunded.
What it costs to attend
The registration page lists the fees below in U.S. dollars, as early bird / standard / on-site. The page says details can still change, so check it again when registration opens.
Main conference (May 25–27):
- IEEE RAS member: $720 / $1,080 / $1,180
- IEEE member: $800 / $1,200 / $1,320
- Non-member: $1,100 / $1,500 / $1,700
- IEEE RAS student member: $420 / $640 / $690
- IEEE student member: $450 / $670 / $720
- Student non-member: $550 / $750 / $800
- IEEE Life member: free
- Companion: $240 standard, $250 on-site
- Virtual (online viewing): $200
Workshops and tutorials (May 24 and 28) are a separate registration, from $100 for an RAS student member at the early rate to $550 for a non-member on site. An exhibition-hall-only pass is planned, but its price is still listed as TBD.
If you mainly want to see robots and companies rather than research talks, that exhibition-only pass is the one to watch for in February. Organizers say entry to each area is checked by badge.
Getting to Coex and into Korea
Coex is at 513 Yeongdong-daero, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, connected to Subway Line 2 (Samseong Station) and Line 9 (Bongeunsa Station) through an underground mall (venue page).
Entry rules depend on your passport. The conference’s visa page says some travelers need a visa, while many can enter visa-free with a K-ETA, an online travel authorization that must be approved before you board. K-ETA reviews usually take 72 hours or less but can take longer, and there’s no rush service. If you need a visa, the organizers advise applying as early as possible because some applications go through extra screening.
Why this ICRA matters for physical AI
ICRA is where much of the research behind robot foundation models, the approach used by Physical Intelligence, Skild AI and Google DeepMind’s Gemini Robotics, is presented and argued over. Holding it in Seoul also puts it next to Korea’s robot industry, including Hyundai, the owner of Boston Dynamics. The confirmed exhibitor list on the site is still short as of October 19, 2026.

IROS, the other flagship IEEE RAS conference, follows in autumn: see IROS 2027 in Florence for its dates and March 1, 2027 paper deadline.
