RSS 2027, the 23rd Robotics: Science and Systems conference, runs July 6–11, 2027 in Athens, Greece, according to the official RSS site. Papers now start as an extended abstract due December 4, 2026, at 11:59 pm Anywhere on Earth. The full paper isn’t due until April 16, 2027, after two review decisions, and acceptances go out April 30, 2027.

How the two-stage RSS 2027 review works
Earlier RSS cycles took a full paper at the first deadline. For 2027 the first thing reviewers see is an extended abstract. At stage 1 they either reject it or invite the authors to answer their comments in a rebuttal, due one week later. At stage 2 the program committee either rejects the submission or invites the authors to carry out an “Extension Charter”, the agreed plan for turning the abstract into a full paper. Invited authors then have about seven weeks, to April 16, to submit that full paper.
In practice the December abstract has to show the core result, because a rejection at either stage ends the submission before a full paper exists. Read the call for papers on the RSS site for page limits and what an extension charter must include before you draft.

IROS’s March 1 deadline falls between RSS stage 2 (February 26) and the RSS final paper (April 16). If your RSS abstract is rejected at either stage, the work can still be developed for IROS. The nearer event is CoRL 2026 in Austin, November 9–12, 2026.

The 22nd RSS ran July 13–17, 2026 in Sydney, Australia, hosted at the University of Technology Sydney and the International Convention Centre (RSS 2026 site). Its proceedings are the best guide to the topics and length RSS reviewers expect.
